Pooja Chitgopeker, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgeon at Medical Dermatology Associates of Chicago in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Chitgopeker is passionate about providing high-quality, individualized care for her patients. She takes a special interest in assisting patients with Mohs surgery and reconstruction, skin cancer prevention and management, scar revision, and cosmetics using neurotoxins and laser surgery.
Dr. Chitgopeker earned her medical degree at the University of Auckland in her native New Zealand. She then traveled to the United States and completed her dermatology residency and an intensive fellowship training in Mohs surgery, advanced facial reconstruction, and cosmetic and laser surgery at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
During her training, she received a prestigious cutting-edge research grant from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and conducted a clinical study to compare fracture lasers in improving the appearance of surgical and traumatic scars.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Chitgopeker shares her knowledge and presents at national meetings and has authored numerous publications on dermatologic surgery, cutaneous oncology, and cosmetic and laser surgery.
She is a member of the ASDS, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Chitgopeker is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
