Botox® (Neurotoxins)

Lasting for 3-4 months, Botox®, a neurotoxin, is used to block the nerve signal to reduce the contraction of muscles. By relaxing and reducing the contraction of muscles that cause wrinkles to result in the overlying skin, smoother skin results over time with continued used. Botox® is most commonly used to treat wrinkles (or rhytides) in the glabella (11's between the brows), frontalis (horizontal lines across the forehead), and crows feet. Approved by the FDA in 2002, it has been shown to be safe and effective in numerous studies for both cosmetic and therapeutic treatments.

Botox is also commonly used around the lips and mouth to smooth fine lines on upper lip, on the neck to treat wrinkles as well injected into the masseters (or jaw muscles) to help reduce teeth grinding and slim the jawline.

Additionally, neurotoxins can be used to control excessive sweating in localized areas such as the underarms, hands and feet.
