Cosmetic Dermatology

At MDA we focus on safe, proven treatments for the treatment of scars, fine line and wrinkles, unwanted pigment, and photoaging.

The line between "medical" and "cosmetic" can be blurry in dermatology. We have access to the power of the latest technological achievements along with the best of the gentle, more-natural therapies to help improve the appearance and texture of the skin.

Varicose and spider vein treatment

At MDA, we offer a variety of ways to treat unwanted and often unsightly leg viens.

Superficial veins on the legs can be treated as an outpatient with sclerotherapy. The sclerosing agent causes the vein to narrow and close off leading to improved appearance, lightening of the vessel and even complete removal. Following treatment, you may be required to wear compression stockings and limit strenuous exercise and activity for up to 7 days. The number of treatments depends on the size and number of veins present and will be discussed with you during your consultation.

Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

This gentle, non-ablative treatment uses broad-spectrum light to treat skin concerns such as age spots, red and brown skin pigmentation's, rosacea and broken capillaries, and improves the overall appearance of the skin by stimulating collagen reproduction. IPL is a great option for patients looking for maximum results with little to no down time. Results can be seen in as little as 1-2 treatments for some skin concerns with maximum results in the majority of skin concerns are achieved in 3-6 sessions.

Nordyls Fraxel 1550

This non-ablative fractional laser treatment improves textural changes of the skin via skin resurfacing over a series of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart and is an excellent treatment option for patients looking to maintain and correct various skin concerns.

The Nordyls is a multi platform laser which allows us to use dual laser technology to deliver a more efficacious treatment. The 1550 Fraxel/ IPL setting enables us to tackle fine lines, superficial scars, overall texture and pigmentation.

Patients can expect three to four days of social downtime post procedure with mild redness and possible peeling or flaking for up to ten days.

Co2 Resurfacing Laser

The CORE CO2 resurfacing laser is clinically indicated for the treatment of pigmentation, traumatic scarring, acne scarring, skin laxity, and superficial to deep wrinkles of the skin. CO2 laser is an ideal treatment for patients looking for a non-invasive rejuvenation option and significant improvement is expected after only one treatment.

Because we are "resurfacing" the top layer of the skin, peeling, swelling, and redness are not uncommon and a minimum of 5-7 days of downtime post procedure should be anticipated.

Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL)

Pulsed Dye Lasers (PDL) recognize the red pigmentation in the skin known as hemoglobin. Over the course of several treatments, this laser can be used to treat scarring, broken blood vessels, underlying red pigmentation, cherry angiomas, and port wine stains

The Pulsed Dye Laser, or PDL uses a concentrated beam of light that targets blood vessels in the skin. The light is converted into heat, destroying the blood vessel while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. For treatment of many concerns, such as facial telangetsias, facial flushing (known as rosacea), scarring, and background redness, as series of treatments is generally recommend. 3 to 4 treatment sessions are recommended for maximum clearance. These are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. For other redness complaints such as cherry angiomas, only one treatment may be needed to complete clear the treatment site.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP, or platelet rich plasma, is a component of your blood that is packed with growth factors and proteins. We specially prepare PRP and use it to help restore collagen and re-stimulate hair growth in a healthy, all-natural way.

Microneedling

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) induces collagen production and actually strengthens the epidermis. When glided over the skin, the needles create micro “injuries” in the skin to trigger new collagen growth. Each micro “injury” creates a channel that triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin to fill the microscopic wound. This procedure has no major side effects and results are noticeable in a short period of time. Microneedling can reduce the look of fine line, wrinkles, melasma and acne scars while boosting firmness and elasticity.

Fillers, Soft-Tissue Augmentation

Soft tissue augmentation, commonly called “fillers” are used to help rebuild the underlying support, add volume, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and rejuvenate the face.
